This small master bathroom remodel was
quite a challenge given the tight budget we
had to work with. Ideally I would have loved to
have expanded on the remodeling floor plan
of this bathroom design by shifting the
bathing portion of the bathroom to the
dressing area by including a soaking tub and
enlarged walk in shower & using the existing
bath area as the master walk in closet.

Since that was not an option I was able to
widen the shower stall and add a shower
bench by eliminating a closet from an
adjacent bathroom. I also upgraded her tile
selection. Originally the home owner had
purchased a porcelain tile for the
installation but that choice really did not add
any value to her home. The tile was a cheap
quality ceramic tile.

This client expressed to me that she wanted
the bathroom to be elegant and speak to her
as “my space”. My recommendation was to
use this very elegant French inspired marble
top bathroom vanity. I also included
Harlequin tumbled marble, marble chair rail
and 8x12 marble set in a brick pattern on the
bathroom & shower walls.
The mirror you see above the bathroom
vanity was recycled using the home owners
frameless mirror which was installed

For the bath remodel and to help with the
budget my design idea was to make good
use of the old vanity mirror.

By installing the mirror vertically it gives the
room the illusion of height.

I finished the bathroom mirror by having the
tile installer set marble chair rail as a frame
giving the bathroom vanity a custom look at a
minimal price.

The marble tile that you see on the walls
of the shower and wainscot throughout the
master bathroom was purchased by the
homeowner after I helped her with the
selection in order to achieve the feel of
elegance she was looking for fortunately
she was able to exchange the tile she had
purchased prior to our remodeling

To add unique to this tile design I selected
tile with the dimensions 8x12 and
had the tile setters lay them in a brick
pattern. The tumbled harlequin marble tile
was used as a liner in the shower and

As the
tile installation progressed the
homeowner continued to add tile to the
original remodeling design. Originally the
tile wainscot was only to be installed
behind the bathroom vanity.
However after looking at the tile
installation she decided to continue the
tiling through out the dressing area and
into the shower area.

When remodeling a bathroom, careful
thought about how the space is going to
be used on a daily basis is critical for a
successful remodel job.

As I mentioned before I would have loved
installing a soaking tub and shower where
the vanity was however I am pleased with
the final results. The tile really gave the job
the wow factor the home owner was
looking for and although I did not get my
bath tub I was able to pull the design
together by adding 18x18 porcelain tile
for the
